Description

A hearty and comforting casserole dish inspired by Amish tradition, perfect for a Sunday meal with family and friends.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (30 oz) frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown ground beef with onion and bell pepper in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stir in the cooked beef mixture, hash browns, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  5. Transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  7. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for beef if preferred.
  • Add a dash of paprika for extra flavor.
