Description
A quick and easy twist on the classic Sloppy Joe, served on toasted bread with melted cheese for extra flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 slices bread
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and bell pepper, cook until softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Toast the bread slices until golden.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the toast.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Broil for 2 minutes until cheese melts.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for less grease.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- For extra heat, add a dash of hot sauce.
