A festive and healthy twist on a classic cheeseburger, featuring sizzling bourbon BBQ glazed meatballs with bacon and melted cheese in a sub roll.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
- 4 sub rolls
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into 12 meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown meatballs on all sides.
- Transfer meatballs to a baking dish, top with bacon and cheese, and bake for 15 minutes.
- Warm the sub rolls and place 3 meatballs in each.
- Drizzle with bourbon BBQ sauce before serving.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
- Swap cheddar for mozzarella if preferred.
- For extra spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the meatball mix.
