Description
A festive and healthy lasagna made with walnuts, ricotta, and whole wheat pasta. Perfect for Christmas dinner.
Ingredients
- 12 whole wheat lasagna sheets
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 egg
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna sheets according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Mix ricotta, egg, walnuts, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce in a baking dish.
- Place 4 lasagna sheets on top.
- Spread half the ricotta mixture over the sheets.
- Repeat layers, ending with tomato sauce and mozzarella.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh ricotta for best texture.
- Add spinach for extra greens.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
