A simple and tasty slow-cooked version of the classic sloppy joes. Perfect for busy days when you want a hearty meal with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Transfer the beef to a crockpot.
- Add onion, bell pepper, tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the crockpot.
- Stir well to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
- Serve on hamburger buns.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes.
- You can use ground turkey instead of beef for a leaner option.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
