Description
A quick and healthy lasagna made with smoked mozzarella, perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup shredded smoked mozzarella
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Brown ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Spread 1/3 of the meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles, half the ricotta mixture, and 1/3 of the mozzarella.
- Repeat layers, ending with meat sauce and remaining mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10 more minutes.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
Notes
- Use no-boil lasagna noodles for even faster prep.
- Substitute ground chicken for turkey if preferred.
- For extra vegetables, add spinach or mushrooms to the meat sauce.
