Description

A classic lasagna recipe with a fluffy ricotta and egg mixture layered with pasta, marinara sauce, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, pepper, basil, and oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Layer 1/3 of the noodles in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread half the ricotta mixture, then half the meat sauce.
  7. Repeat layers, ending with noodles on top. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 10 more minutes.
  9. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use no-boil lasagna noodles to save time.
  • Substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
