Description
A hearty and flavorful casserole combining French onion soup flavors with wild rice.
Ingredients
- 1 cup wild rice
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cook wild rice in beef broth according to package instructions.
- Sauté onions in butter and olive oil until caramelized.
- Mix cooked rice, onions, thyme, and garlic powder in a baking dish.
- Top with Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top.
- Bake for 25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

- Use a mandoline for even onion slices.
- Substitute vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
