A fresh and healthy salad inspired by the 1905 Columbia Salad, packed with crisp greens, juicy tomatoes, and savory toppings.
Ingredients
- 2 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
- 1 cup iceberg lettuce, chopped
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1/2 cup Swiss cheese, julienned
- 1/4 cup ham, julienned
- 1/4 cup green olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine romaine and iceberg lettuce in a large bowl.
- Add diced tomato, Swiss cheese, ham, and green olives.
- Sprinkle grated Romano cheese over the salad.
- In a small bowl, whisk olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Drizzle dressing over the salad and toss gently.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the ham.
- Add croutons for extra crunch.
