A quick and easy pesto pasta recipe made with just 5 simple ingredients. Perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 8 oz whole wheat pasta
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup pine nuts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions.
- While pasta cooks, blend basil, parmesan, pine nuts, olive oil, and garlic in a food processor until smooth.
- Drain pasta and return to pot.
- Toss pasta with pesto sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve immediately with extra parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For a vegan version, use nutritional yeast instead of parmesan.
- Add cherry tomatoes or grilled chicken for extra flavor.
