Description

A healthier twist on the classic cheesesteak, packed with lean protein and fresh veggies, served on garlic parmesan bread for a festive Christmas meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 whole wheat hoagie rolls
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup low-fat provolone cheese, shredded


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix minced garlic, parmesan cheese, and olive oil. Spread on hoagie rolls and toast for 5 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add beef and cook for 3 minutes until browned.
  4. Add bell peppers and onion. Cook for 5 minutes until tender.
  5. Season with oregano, black pepper, and salt. Stir well.
  6. Divide beef mixture among toasted rolls. Top with provolone cheese.
  7. Return to oven for 2 minutes until cheese melts.
  8. Serve warm.
