Description
A healthy twist on classic Alfredo pasta with caramelized onions for added flavor.
Ingredients
- 8 oz whole wheat pasta
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup low-fat milk
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in milk, Parmesan, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Toss the sauce with cooked pasta.
- Garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use a non-stick pan for easier caramelization.
- Adjust milk thickness by adding more if needed.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
