A healthier take on classic cheeseburgers, slow-cooked to perfection in a crockpot.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
- 1/4 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 slices reduced-fat cheddar cheese
- 4 whole wheat burger buns
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, onions, bell peppers, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into 4 patties.
- Place the patties in the crockpot.
- Cook on low for 4-5 hours or until fully cooked.
- Top each patty with a slice of cheese and let it melt for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve on whole wheat buns with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey for a lower-fat option.
- Add lettuce, tomato, or pickles for extra freshness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
