A healthy twist on classic lasagna with ricotta, garlic, and herbs for a flavorful and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, garlic, basil, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish.
- Place 4 noodles over the sauce, then spread half the ricotta mixture.
- Repeat layers: sauce, noodles, ricotta.
- Top with remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for 10 more minutes until bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use whole wheat noodles for extra fiber.
- Substitute cottage cheese for ricotta if preferred.
- Add spinach or zucchini for more vegetables.
