Description
A healthy and flavorful Greek-style chicken gyro with homemade tzatziki sauce, perfect for a quick and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 whole wheat pita breads
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced red onions
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chicken with olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until fully cooked.
- For the tzatziki, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, and dill in a bowl. Mix well.
- Warm the pita breads in a skillet or microwave for 30 seconds.
- Assemble the gyros by placing chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions on each pita. Top with tzatziki sauce.
- Fold the pita and serve immediately.
Notes
- Let the chicken marinate for 30 minutes for extra flavor.
- Squeeze excess water from the grated cucumber for a thicker tzatziki.
- Use fresh dill for the best taste.
