Description
A hearty and healthy lasagna made with sweet Italian sausage, packed with flavor and nutrients.
Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add sausage, onion, and garlic. Cook until sausage is browned.
- Add crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese and egg.
- Layer noodles, sausage mixture, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella in a baking dish. Repeat layers.
- Top with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use whole wheat noodles for extra fiber.
- Substitute turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
