Description
A nutritious bread made with milk and honey for a soft texture and subtle sweetness.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 egg (optional)
Instructions
- Warm the milk slightly and dissolve honey in it.
- Add yeast to the milk mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Mix flours and salt in a bowl.
- Pour the milk mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased pan.
- Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool before slicing.
Notes
- Use warm milk, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
- For a richer taste, brush the top with beaten egg before baking.
- Store in an airtight container for freshness.
