Description

A quick and healthy Southern-style green bean dish made in a crockpot.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)


Instructions

  1. Place green beans in the crockpot.
  2. Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in the bacon grease until soft.
  4. Add onion, garlic, bacon, chicken broth, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the crockpot.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
  6. Serve warm.
