Description
A quick and healthy Southern-style green bean dish made in a crockpot.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Place green beans in the crockpot.
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté onion and garlic in the bacon grease until soft.
- Add onion, garlic, bacon, chicken broth, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the crockpot.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh green beans for best texture.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
