Ingredients

  • 1 large white onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 red chili, sliced (optional)


Instructions

  1. Slice onion thinly and place in a clean jar.
  2. Heat vinegar, water, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan until sugar dissolves.
  3. Pour hot liquid over onions in jar.
  4. Add chili if using.
  5. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
