Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Shape into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms until tender.
- Add beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the skillet to thicken the sauce.
- Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve hot with sauce spooned over the top.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the sauce.
- Serve with steamed vegetables or mashed cauliflower.
