Description
A healthy and flavorful Southern-style green bean dish cooked slowly in a crockpot for maximum taste and tenderness.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and trim the green beans.
- Place all ingredients in the crockpot.
- Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
- Stir occasionally during cooking.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For extra flavor, add a smoked turkey wing during cooking.
