Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg (optional for brushing)


Instructions

  1. Dissolve honey in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over it and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces, shape into rolls, and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Brush with beaten egg (optional) and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
