Description
A comforting and hearty dish made with layers of cabbage, ground meat, rice, and tomato sauce. Perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat.
- Add cooked rice, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme to the beef mixture. Stir well.
- Layer half the chopped cabbage in a greased baking dish.
- Spread the beef and rice mixture over the cabbage.
- Top with the remaining cabbage.
- Pour tomato sauce and diced tomatoes over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Add shredded cheese on top before baking for extra flavor.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
