Description
Classic Southern-style green beans cooked with bacon for a rich flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crisp, then remove and set aside.
- Add onion to bacon grease and cook until soft.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add green beans, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and sugar.
- Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Stir in cooked bacon before serving.
Notes
- Trim ends from green beans before cooking.
- Simmer until beans are tender.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
