Description

A delicious and easy-to-make pizza casserole that combines the flavors of pizza with the convenience of a casserole.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package (16 oz) penne pasta, cooked
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables soften.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with the meat sauce in a large mixing bowl.
  6. Transfer half of the pasta mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the pasta.
  8. Add the remaining pasta mixture and top with the rest of the cheeses.
  9. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • Add pepperoni or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving.
