Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened.
  3. Pour in the broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in peas, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Spoon mashed potatoes on top and let them melt slightly into the soup.
