Description

A savory Swiss mushroom melt with caramelized onions and melted cheese on toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add mushrooms, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  5. Place bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Layer Swiss cheese, mushroom mixture, and another slice of cheese on two bread slices.
  7. Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  8. Cook until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
  9. Serve hot.
