Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)


Instructions

  1. Heat butter or oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add flour and whisk until smooth.
  3. Gradually pour in milk while whisking to prevent lumps.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded cheese until fully melted.
  6. Mix in salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  7. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  8. Remove from heat and serve warm over fries.
