A quick and healthy twist on classic sloppy joes with garlic bread and cheesesteak flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 4 whole wheat buns
- 1/2 cup low-fat mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat
- Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until soft
- Stir in marinara sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Simmer for 5 minutes
- Toast buns with butter and garlic powder
- Fill buns with beef mixture and top with cheese
- Broil for 1 minute until cheese melts
Notes
- Use ground turkey for lower fat option
- Add hot peppers if you prefer spicy flavor
- Leftovers keep for 3 days in refrigerator
